CEVNI

If you wish to go through the European Inland waterways you have to demonstrate that you understand the rules of the road by completing the CEVNI test (Code Européen des Voies de la Navigation Intérieure).

The RYA ICC CEVNI test is a short multiple choice paper which can be completed online. It is in two parts:

Part 1 - Signs and buoyage
Part 2 - Sound signals, lights and shapes

There are seven questions in each part and you must get five out of seven correct in each part to pass the test.

After you have passed the test you can print off a certificate that can be used to apply to have your ICC endorsed for Inland Waterways.

Before attempting the exam we recommend that you read the RYA European regulations (G17) book which contains an example of a test paper. You can also do a practice test online at www.ryainteractive.org. Click on 'The CEVNI test' and the 'Practice the CEVNI test' You just need to click on 'Login as guest'

This will give you a realistic idea of whether or not you are ready to complete the full test. Your scores will not be recorded on this.

Students have two attempts to pass each part of the test. You can resit but have to contact us to arrange a repeat test. You will be charged for this

Please note students must be 16 or over to take the test

How to Book an Online Test - Cost - £25

Either telephone us on 01243 432485 or complete the online booking form. Someone will then call you to discuss any queries you may have and to take payment (£25) by debit or credit card. On receipt of payment you will be sent an email with instructions on how to access the test together with an enrolment key.
